Glass Weavers * comic* Chp 1
## The Vanity Mirror
The antique vanity mirror on the second floor had belonged to Elena’s grandmother, and before that, to someone no one in the family could clearly remember.
That was what made it valuable, according to Elena’s mother.
Not the gold-leaf frame, though it curled around the glass in delicate vines and tiny carved flowers. Not the heavy wooden base with its claw-foot legs and hidden drawers. Not even the mirror itself, which was taller than Elena when she stood in front of it and so old that the silver behind the glass had begun to cloud around the edges.
It was valuable because it had survived.
That was the word her mother always used.
Survived.
